I received my M.A. degree in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University in 2013. As a Mexican immigrant I understand the cultural, linguistic, and other challenges that immigrants face. Before working as a therapist, I worked as an elementary school teacher for over 20 years.
In the capacity, I realized that the students and families I worked for did not receive the counseling services and caring guidance they desperately needed. For other reasons, and this in particular, I became a therapist and have served underserved latino communities for several years now.
I have helped individuals, couples, and families work through diverse issues including trauma/PTSD, academic struggles, and socialization difficulties, among others. When working with clients I draw from different therapeutic modalities – Strategic Family Therapy/Family Systems, Gestalt Therapy, and Existential Therapy, I also use Somatic Psychotherapy tool interventions within a friendly and safe environment. In this therapeutic environment, I foster acceptance, collaboration and genuine understanding for my clients. I always keep in mind that it takes courage and determination to embark on this journey. I hope I can be privileged to be your companion.
