I am passionate about the need to collaborate with my clients to help them develop the tools needed to improve their feeling of wellness. I have been a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner since 2012, and before attaining this advanced training, I was a Board Certified Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist providing therapy and program development for decades. My recent experience includes working for 8 years at UCLA Resnick Neuropsychiatric hospital as an Adult Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner on the inpatient psychiatric service, and a Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist for the UCLA Health System.
I have worked with the entire age span in outpatient, intensive outpatient and inpatient settings. As such, I have been fortunate to have been on the cutting edge of psychiatric treatment and can provide expert care for my patients who may have complex psychiatric conditions, or those who need more routine care.
Although my focus more recently has been on psychopharmacology, I quite often encourage and teach the use of other tools, if desired by the client, such as creating Smart Goals, DBT (which includes mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation and interpersonal effectiveness), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and meditation.
I truly believe that collaboration with my clients is key for attainting successful outcomes of care.
